A creamy, classic pea salad with sweet peas, tangy dressing, sharp cheddar, and a halal-friendly substitute for bacon. Ready in 30 minutes, perfect for gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale

4 cups frozen peas, thawed
1/3 cup diced red onion
3/4 cup cubed sharp cheddar cheese
2 cups halal-certified edamame or roasted chickpeas (as bacon substitute)
For the dressing:
1/2 cup sour cream
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 tablespoon mayonnaise
1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

Thaw frozen peas and drain excess moisture
Dice red onion and cheddar cheese
In a bowl, mix sour cream, Dijon mustard, mayonnaise, and apple cider vinegar
Combine all ingredients, toss gently to coat
Chill for 15-20 minutes before serving
Stir in roasted chickpeas/edamame last to maintain crunch

Notes

Substitute chickpeas with sunflower seeds or walnuts for alternative crunch
Use frozen peas for convenience
