Description

A flag-worthy 20-minute dessert with angel food cake, fresh berries, and creamy filling. Light, colorful, and perfect for summer celebrations.


Ingredients

Scale

10 oz angel food cake, cut into 1-inch cubes
2 pints fresh strawberries, sliced
2 pints fresh blueberries
4 cups whipped cream (or stabilized with 1 tsp gelatin if needed)
1/4 cup powdered sugar (optional, for sweetening cream)
Fresh mint leaves for garnish


Instructions

Prepare all ingredients and portion them for easier assembly
Line the bottom of a glass trifle dish with a layer of angel food cake cubes
Top with half the strawberries and a drizzle of syrup from the blueberries
Spread half the whipped cream over the strawberries
Repeat with blueberries and remaining whipped cream
Garnish with mint leaves and additional berries
Chill for at least 1 hour before serving

Notes

Use frozen berries thawed and drained if fresh isn’t available
Chill trifle at least 1 hour to let layers settle
For vegan version, use dairy-free whipped cream and vegan angel food cake
Can be assembled the night before, just add a food-grade cover when chilling
